DO Group Is Formed
A new Hokkien Opera Group is formed.
DO stands for DO OPERA. Their main objective is to promote the appreciation of opera
In Chinese is known as 延戏 and don't you think it also sounds like "演戏”in Hokkien.
This group is led by Art Ang also known as WMY.
They just debuted their first show 歌仔戏 [十八相送] on the 10th of Oct and will be performing again next Saturday.
Wish them all the best in their performances.
Recently they have built up a blog and have posted up their lst entry.

Back On Stage
Glad to know that you are back on stage.
Though it may be a small-scale on charity basis, I am excited to know that you are happy to go on stage.
I know that you are still passionate about opera and it would be a shame if you quit opera totally.
It takes years to develop a Chinese Opera actor and lot more tears and sweat along the way.
I sincerely wish you 2 all the best.
Don't forget to "jio" me to see you perform. ;)

Look Delicious & I Wanna Eat
Picture extracted from Shanice's blog.
I wanna eat this long time ago when I was at Orchard Ion some weeks back.
The queue was so long that I had to give up.
It is highly recommended by Suyin and she said that they are authentic.
How much are those octopus balls?
Oh yeah, someone told me not to be a copycat just because she had eaten.
Hey, I'm not a copycat yozz and I can always eat anytime I wish. (LOL)
Also, I crave for Tanglin Mall's hotpot...BUT.......not now...
Hope money drops onto my lap from the sky soon. (LOL)

在她的游记里,她写了这么的一段话;

Blogging
MK is right, I used to blog so often last time...
But why am I not blogging as much as before.
I think I have become a sadder person...
Wierd to use "sadder"...But I think I am.
A sad person becomes less motivated to blog...
I just want to make ends meet......

Don't Know What To Blog
Most of the time I'm on FB.
Spend most of the time clashing gems in 3s or 4s.
Shanice's blog is now mostly on her new love of the "weeks" or maybe "months" featuring Amami Yuki.
L's blog is now about Karaoke and I can see that she has kind of igniting her once beloved singing in CC's Karaoke Hall.
Serene's blog is of course mostly on cute little Kieth Benjamin.
As for me...once a while I come knocking in and rushing off.
I don't know what to blog.
I used to blog anything under the sun during those old days.
Maybe I was very bored then.
Nowadays I come home feeling worn out and sometimes I just refused to on the PC...
I bring along a chinese book on "Travelling on backpack". (Nope, I have no plans to travel cos I don't have the money." I bring along my opera script - "The Carp Fairy", I wanted "Jia Baoyu's excerpt" but I couldn't find the script.
Anyone has the script, please lend me to zap.
I wanna learn the songs, they aren't easy and in a way I am intimidated by some of the songs. I want to learn them well but sometimes failure tends to eat away your confidence.
Busy afternoon but during the off peak period, I read and I really like to read. To think that I actually bypassed reading for so many years and anyway it is never too late to pick up reading again.
Now I find reading the script a chore...perhaps no motivation...(Is Carp Fairy going to feature next year?)
Am glad to bring my little white lamb and at least it keeps me company during lunch break.
Feel like eating the Tanglin hotpot but....maybe when I get my pay next month...
I'm broke and I can't spend too much.
Any good lobangs ......

Bian's Cafe Cum Chinese Opera Museum

We were invited to Bian's Cafe on its opening day about a fortnight ago. The owner Bian and his wife used to be Peking professionals in China. They have obtained their citizenships some time back.
Bian's cafe is a 3-storey unit along Kandahar Street. The top floor is Bian's office dealing with the making of audio visual materials, the 2nd floor will be put aside for a Chinese Opera Museum which will have it grand opening early next year. The cafe will be selling some local delights and patrons can not only eat but to sing or view Chinese Operas.
You can also book the cafe to hold meetings, gatherings or karaoke sessions.
In addition, if you are ethusiastic and passionate, you may also donate your opera materials to them.
I'm looking forward to their Chinese Opera Museum. Heard that the objective of the gallery is to feature local chinese operas though its history in SG is only barely a hundred years.
Hope I get the facts right.

I didn't take many pictures, just a few.
Once you enter the cafe, you would see a small counter exhibiting some of the stuff bought and collected by Bian.

Shelves holding books and audio visual materials are at one side of the cafe. You can browse the books and watch the discs but no borrowing out of the cafe is available yet.
If you are interested, you may drop in at 52 Kandahar Street.
Singing

L will be holding another Hokkien Opera Karaoke session next month at Bian's Cafe.
This time, judges will be asked to access our singing.
I want to try GZX but I don't sing them well cos I am not very familiar with the tracks.
Maybe I can try.
Heard that L is practicing her singing everyday and one thing that I'm pretty sure is that she has time unlike us who have other commitments.
Anyway, the session will be held and we have to sing...
By hook or by crook, you have to find time to sing.

Burnt Out
I'm lying on bed, weak and in pain......
Last night I had panic attacks twice one after another one subsided.
Today went to see DOC and I waited there for more than an hour, feeling upset and fuming at the same time.
Something's wrong with my body. It doesn't regulate regularly as before, for the past one year, my m skipped 3 times.
It came without symptoms and it is hurting so much that I have to take a day rest.
Doc isn't in favour of me taking hormones pills and my mum objects and suggests that maybe I should try chinese medicine instead.
Doc also pointed out that I must be very very stressed and lately I am very stressed.
My whole body aches...and I can't lie on a position for some time because it is stiff and painful.
I am now reading the book on "Silenced"...
Now I am not only physically but also mentally burnt out.
Maybe my life energy is getting weaker...
Will I still have the energy to hold on?

Four Legendary Beauties

Watched the "Four Legendary Beauties" by Guangdong Cantonese Opera First Troupe at Esplanade last night.
I like the music, very unlike the traditional noisy type of music. The OS is so beautifully sang... (I think we have to do something about our OS, 被不少人嫌呢。)
The costumes are so Yueju like and then I realised they were designed by Lan Ling, a famous Yueju costume designer.
ML told me that they are venturing towards Hongkong Style Cantonese Opera...
I'm not very familiar with Canto Opera...
Perhaps Franxxis can enlighten me on the differences between China and HK Cantonese Opera.
AC, I heard from the audience that "The story of Dongpo and Chaoyun" was very boring and I have to assure that that the "Four Legendary Beauties" isn't that bad...
The background settings are nice and my TW friend who is watching Cantonese Opera for the first time likes the music especially there's a familiar tune during "Wang Zhaojun" excerpt. She said that particular tune (An old chinese song) sung in Cantonese was lovely.
ML and her like the "Xi Shi" excerpt the best.
Hahahahahahaha...What an conincidence!
Oh ya, this show is a good learning platform to those who are learning dans.
XJ, it's a pity that you didn't go for it.
I guess I can take this watching experience as my KH's holiday plan yozz beside nursing myself to be pink in health ... (LOL)
