　　一个惊心动魄的故事，一曲悲怆凄美的壮歌，宁波艺术剧院越剧团排演的大型越剧《阿育王》，讲述了印度史上一位伟大的国王——阿育王的一段至爱至恨，至恶至善的人生传奇经历及其心灵救赎历程。

　　本剧取材于印度史诗大片《阿育王》，创作人员在以歌剧化的框架下，展示了中国地方戏曲越剧独特的风采；以令人感慨的壮怀情殇，洋溢出东方神秘色彩的异国情调。


　　主要内容：


　　孔雀王朝年轻的阿育王子因其不同凡响的才能而受到一帮同父异母兄弟的嫉恨。在母亲的苦劝下，阿育离开了险恶的皇宫，开始了自己苦行僧式的云游生涯。


　　路途中，阿育王遇到了自己的梦中情人，一位同样因宫廷之变而流离失所的公主卡瓦。自称帕马的阿育和卡瓦在一番纠葛后，爱情终于绽放出了美丽的花朵。然而天意弄人，母亲病重的消息不得不使阿育离开卡瓦，踏上归国的路途。


　　回到宫廷的阿育发现让他回宫是一场阴谋，目的就是要置于他死地而后快。卡瓦被烧死的消息和母亲为保护儿子惨死的情境，让阿育终于高高举起了手中的利剑。


　　从此，他杀兄弑父，南征北战，用沾满鲜血的双手建立了供历史见证的丰功伟业，同时也使得自己成为了一个不折不扣的暴君，众叛亲离。更为可悲的是，昔日刻骨铭心的恋人竟然与他在战场上兵戎相见。残酷的战争，让阿育王得到了一切，也失去了一切。


　　“因见其恶，故需求善”，悟透善恶真谛的阿育王放下屠刀，宣扬佛法，走上了传播爱与和平的旅程，成为印度一代伟大君王。


　　阿育王幡然悔悟后，从此停止武力扩张，英明治理国家，他在位的时代以富于人道，和谐富足著称于世。他把佛教定为国教，一心从善，取释迦牟尼舍利造舍利塔八万四千座，分至邻近的国家和地区，以示佛光普照。中国现存唯一一座，完好保存于宁波的阿育王寺，已有1700多年历史！

One of the greatest emperors of all times, Emperor Asoka was a Mauryan ruler whose empire spread across the Indian sub continent and the present day Pakistan and Afghanistan thus covering a vast area. He is known as Asoka the Great since he was one of the most able rulers who ruled India. Under his rule, the whole of India was united as one single entity with smooth administration. His life is an inspiration to many as he excelled in everything that he did. The name Ashoka means "without any sorrow" in Sanskrit. Read on this biography about the life history of famous Buddhist emperor Ashoka.

Born in 265 B.C, the great king Ashoka was the grandson of the famous ruler Chandragupta Maurya. As a young lad, Ashoka excelled in whatever he was taught. Be it the art of warfare or reading the Holy Scriptures, Asoka excelled in whatever he did. Ashoka had many half brothers and he was loved by one and all. Thus, after his father died, he was crowned as the king of Magadha around 268 B.C. After being crowned as the king, he proved himself by smoothly administrating his territory and performing all his duties as an able and courageous king.

After a period of eight years of being a king, Ashoka planned to seize the territory of Kalinga, the present day Orissa. He led a huge army and fought a gruesome battle with the army of Kalinga. The battle of Kalinga made him pledge to never wage a war again. The battle took place on the Dhauli hills that are located on the banks of River Daya. Though Ashoka emerged victorious at the end, the sight of the battlefield made his heart break with shame, guilt and disgust. It is said that the battle was so furious that the waters of River Daya turned red with the blood of the slain soldiers and civilians.

The sight of numerous corpses lying strewn across the battlefield made his heart wrench. He felt sick inside. The battle ground looked like a graveyard with bodies of not just soldiers but men, women and children. He saw young children crying over the bodies of their dead parents, women crying over the bodies of their dead husbands, mothers crying over the loss of a child. This made him heartbroken and he made a pledge to never ever fight a battle again. To seek solace, he converted to Buddhism. He was so inspired by the teachings of the Buddhist monks and Buddhist philosophies that he used his status to impart this knowledge all over the world. He is credited to be the first Emperor to make a serious attempt at developing Buddhist policies.

The tickets are selling like hotcakes. I wanna to get Sun's tickets and the best rows had already taken up... So I took the corner seats.

Sun Cuifeng, the Top Star of Ming Hua Yuan Performing Troupe, is worth the bargain...I think the tickets are not expensive at all.

Highly recommended...Ming Hua Yuan...especially the Performing Troupe. ;P

I'm getting vain recently...

I was surfing an online fashion website and came across this picture. I have this dress but is green instead. I bought it from Taiwan in June.

Now this dress is featured as a NEW item and I have already worn once to work. Of course I didn't wear it the same way as the model above. One of my colleagues has commented that I am getting more and more sexy...Emmm...Does this sound good, I wonder......

Do you think I can wear this dress exactly the same as the model above...Will you people PUKE? ...sighz...

Blue Eyeshadow "Song'?

XJ has been "bombarded" on the topic of blue eyeshadow. XJ is a lover of blue eyeshadow however she was classified under "song" for using blue.

Personally, I feel that blue isn't "song", it is the way that you apply. If you want to be "song", you can use other colours too not necessarily blue.

Look at the picture on top. Peiyin looks stunning to me and she is definitely not "song" at all. (Shanice, are you nodding your head earnestly? LOL)

So please XJ, can you stop her from always harping on the topic of wearing blue being "song"? Then why did she use blue too before we learnt the Yueju makeup? I just don't understand what is the big deal in using blue. At least when I use blue, I don't look "song". So what is the problem actually? To look good on stage also depends on how well you carry yourself though makeup is not to be neglected.

Hehe...as long as you don't draw your eyes like LYJ, you should look nice and proper. (LOL)

I wonder how LYJ looks like off stage? Curious...curious...

SH's New Idol - Lan Yajun

LYJ is the TOP xiaosheng in Hong Sheng TW Opera Troupe. She made her first appearance in SG last week. A local troupe, Xin Qilin, invited her and some of her troupemates to perform with them at GCB.

I find their makeup rather bold and harsh especially the eyes. LYJ by default should be a good looking person. Is it because they have to kind of "reach" the audience at the back so that they could be seen?

KH's 8 Immortals

As usual my voice is very bad. I couldn't sing a single word and K is so nice to help me in the singing.

The wireless mics that the organiser gave us were TERRIBLE. Only WMY could be heard, the rest became "mute" like me.

Leader was very displeased and she lodged a complaint.

We are going to do 8 Immortals again tonight at Tampines East CC.

K will be singing for me as I have not recovered yet.

Sick But Very Busy

Lots of work to do. I think I don't have the time to do it over this weekend.

I am down for performances and my voice has not returned.

I have taken medicine already and now having a slight headache because I have just finished a piece of work. I have been working on it for a week already.

SH's online, telling me excitedly that she has declared Lan Yajun as her 2nd idol and ML also likes her alot too...

SH, no surprise lah, she is an easy 'victim' to fall under some handsome coolz and some more this xiaosheng is young and kind of cute with dimples. (LOL) She can do somersaults...amazing somersaults for a gal. When I first saw her on stage, I told ML that this xiaosheng has shengduan. Her shengduan is so much better than XFX (Ooops sorry SH, I know XFX is your lst idol.)

Lan Yajun can sing and ML likes her singing because she finds her style a traditional and yet melodious one. Apart from Guo Chunmei, LYJ is the 2nd TW street opera xiaosheng that is able to "interest" ML.

Now these 2 new fans are very happy after a great show tonight. Heard that ML has taken many pictures... This is so unlike her...oh I nearly forget...ML only takes many pictures if she likes the "model"...(LOL)

Now not able to speak and need to exert lots of force in order to make myself understandable...

Tomorrow is my performance...Sunday too.

So there may be changes if I do not recover in time.

K - I need backstage singing for ba xian...and talking also...Cos I am voiceless. Unless AC can help me to act???

WMY - The best candidate is YOU and no one else... I believe you won't disagree with me right? (LOL)

The irony is that I spent more than half a day, packing my opera stuff, arranged the pins according to their sizes, washed my line brushes, changed a new cosmetic bag cos the old one needed a wash. I also carefully and conscientiously labelled all my stuff with my lovely Utraboy personalised stickers.

And I am still a Mute Amai.

When you are sick, you don't have a choice.

I rather rest and get well soon.

Roach Pants Again

I bought this roach pants in Taipei and it was having a 50% promotion. I bought it after a second visit. XJ commented that it is a nice pair of pants.

Just received an sms from Shanice telling me that her colleagues like the roach pants, so do my colleagues ..;P

Roach pants is nice for work , outings and even opera.

I have about half a dozen of roach pants with different designs...(LOL)(eyes twinkling)

Oh yah...by the way, I don't have such flat tummy like the one above. (LOL)

Nope...I am not going to be the model because I am not sure whether I am able to fit into it...

Maybe I may look like some fat buffaloes...Ooooops

The clothes will be available for collection some time next week. I bought around 5 tops/dresses from an online shop.

One risk of buying is that you may not be able to fit into them...I hope I can...It is an agony to go into dieting...though the clothes are meant to be FREE in size.

I need a nice cardigan or just a white top to go with it...AND then I can wear to work! (WOW!!! Isn't this exciting!)

One more thing to add, the clothes are of reasonable prices yozz...

I can't spend too much because I got debts to settle...(sighz)

But...but...I can buy some clothes for work right? ;P

Dressing Up

I used to wear simply, a T-shirt and a sport pants.

I hardly wanna buy any clothes even for CNY.

My mum used to grumble that I wore sloppishly and had no fashion image.

I bought some clothes from my recent Taiwan trip. Most of them are of reasonable price. I bought most of them from the wholesale stalls in TP and TZ.

Only a few are slightly expensive.

Most of them are meant for workwear.

So when did I have a change of mindset?

This year probably... after what I have gone through a bad stage of acute sinus and occasionally erupted hypertension.

I realise that I am getting older. I have missed many fun things during my prime years.

I have spent too much time in KH. No doubt I have my achievement on stage and also in some way or another, I am not happy.

Some things are fixed, glued delibrately. There is nothing to be done.

I started to change slowly...

I pay more attention to what I wear.

Even now to KH for just a minor rehearsal, I wear better than before.

To dress up a little does make me feel good and confident.

To dress up a little does make my day a little special.

Leader asked me whether I am in love.

YES!!! I am.

I am in love with myself. (LOL)

Just like a friend who told me;

"Treat yourself better"

Yeah... I am not going to wait till I am old and haggard and start to wear nicer.

Quote from a retired colleague of mine;

"For an old folk, she should pay more attention to her dressing in order to avoid others to see her in dimmer light."

I think irregardless of age, try a little dressing up...believe me...

It sure makes your day a little special!

Sick Again

During the long weekend, I was sick for 3 days, at home for 2 days......


WASTED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!


I am yet to learn how to sing the "Eight Immortals" songs......

They were asking me why my songs so hard to sing, the 2nd melody wasn't familiar to them.

Even K was confused......

The best part was when I asked some to help me to sing the Baoyu's songs. NONE of them knew except only the last part....

I hate to be sick! I feel so helpless......

Now they are having 庆功宴。

We used to have 庆功宴 but with so many performances, we can't probably having lots of them.

I miss the old KH days when everything was so less complicated.
